The project is based on the story of the Velveteen Rabbit. I shot this project using in Bridgetown because I was attracted to the grit, texture and architecture of the area.
Walking through the area with no props I was able to imagine what it would be like for a previously whimsical character to walk into the ambiance and smells of a place like Bridgetown. I shot the character as an uncomfortable but curious visitor; reminiscent of traveler’s photos I'd found in my family’s albums from the 70s and 80s.
This was a way of creating her own ending for the story, one more realistic and relatable.

Claire De Lune was an exploration of movement and light after our island began to open up after our second pandemic lockdown. This project was featured in the UK based Intra Magazine.
“I’ve never worked this closely with the female form and I wanted to explore ideas of sensuality and affirmation. Particularly those meant to elevate rather than perform for the traditional ideals of the ‘male gaze’ I found myself examining all angles looking for areas of familiarity to which I could enter to better expand on the narrative.
Pointedly speaking it was interesting to realise that while I am comfortable with my femininity, I am also somewhat unfamiliar with the untethered exploration of it.
During the process, the traits of Osun, the river goddess in the Yoruba religion became more apparent and became a more pointed aesthetic influence.
When I created this project , I was concentrating heavily on creating physical icons of my imagination. The ethereal moments that exist at odds with the current popularity of the shock value beauty we have all come to love. Though this is in essence a photo project , leaving the work in such a state would have taken away from t’s presence, hence the aged toning and added texture. The slight modifications to the images have left them in the context on the Renaissance art.
The aim of all my Creative work is to find the depth in the idea, to create something more than the two dimensional image.
